About Kids Maker Fair

Celebrating the next generation of educators, makers, engineers, scientists, artists, and inventors

Toronto’s newest family-friendly festival celebrates inspiration and innovation by embracing kids’ natural creativity and curiosity with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM).
Join our maker movement where kids explore, learn, play, and interact through demonstrations, hand-on activities and   exhibitions. Our mission is to inspire the next generation of
creative innovators and makers by exploring STEAM in a
family-oriented environment.

Take the Yonge-University line to St. Clair Station and take exit St. Clair Avenue East, and then get on street car 512 Keele to Wychwood Avenue.

Subway - St. Clair West Station

Take the Yonge-University line to St. Clair West Station and take exit St. Clair Avenue. Head west on St. Clair Avenue West towards Wells Hill Avenue and then turn left onto Christie Street. Artscape Wychwood Barns should be on your left.

The maker bean intro to Laser Cutting Workshop

Workshop: Laser Cutting

Age: 12+ (or 8+ if accompanied by an adult)

Join us for a 60-minute laser cutting workshop that teaches kids & adults how to design for a laser cutter. This program is an introduction to design and using a laser cutter. In this workshop, you'll learn how a laser cutter works, what materials you can cut, design something for laser cutting and laser cut it live in the workshop to take home.

Workshop: Art of Handmade Pasta

Age: 4+ (Kids 6 and under will need to be accompanied by an adult)

Join us for a 10-minute hand made fresh pasta workshop that teaches kids how to make their very own pasta! This program is an introduction to the art of pasta making. In this workshop, kids will learn what goes into making a fresh pasta dough, as well as how to roll and shape their pasta.

Workshop: Invent the Greatest Toy

Join us for a 60-minute Create your own Toy Workshop that teaches kids how to use everyday materials to make your own toy. Kids will learn how to make fun objects like cannonball launchers to air powered cars and magnetic instruments. This program is an introduction to STEM, Environmental Science, Innovation, Re-usability and Upcycling. In this workshop, children will learn how to convert everyday items that would otherwise have ended into trash into toys. For the older kids, we will also talk about how to convert their creations into viable businesses.

Stop motion world with Cristal Buemi

Workshop: Mixed Media Stop Motion

Age: 8+

Event details

Join us for a 60-minute Stop Motion Animation workshop
that teaches kids how to bring imagination to life one frame at a
time.This program is an introduction to Stop Motion Animation.
Through a complete hands on approach students will explore the use
of technology and a variety of materials in a unique and creative
way. In this workshop, participants will first learn basic
animation principles and brainstorm ideas within their production
teams. Then, through the use of mixed media like fabrics,
paper, clay, and found objects they will create small sets and
characters. Once the elements needed to bring their ideas to life
are made, students will animate and edit their creations.
The workshop ends with a special premiere of all the short films
produced, allowing for students to share their works of art with
parents and their peers. All equipment and materials are provided
so come out and have fun the frame-by-frame
way.
